How do I submit my audio podcast to YouTube?

YouTube provides a great space for you to highlight your podcast. When you list your show with them through Buzzsprout, your episodes will be available on both YouTube and YouTube Music. The videos will feature a static image of your podcast artwork alongside your episodes' audio. In this guide, we’ll walk you through all the steps to have your audio episodes live on YouTube!

Before you submit...
  • Prepare Your Podcast with YouTube’s Requirements - First, you'll need to set up your podcast with YouTube's requirements so it's ready for submission: Requirements for Submitting to YouTube. 
  • Add Your Email to Your RSS Feed - YouTube will need to verify that you own the RSS feed you're submitting. To help with that, add your email to the Buzzsprout RSS feed by heading to Directories > Email Verification. For more on that process, check out this article: Add your email to your RSS feed.

Submit Your Podcast to YouTube

Now that you're all set up, let's begin submitting your podcast to YouTube!

Step #1: Log In to Your YouTube Account
Once you've logged into your YouTube Studio account, click the Create icon in the upper right corner. Select New Podcast and Submit RSS Feed.

Step #2: Verify Your Account
If you have channel history, you'll be able to submit your RSS feed now. But, since this is an Advanced Feature, YouTube may need to verify your identity first. This process may include providing a phone number, photo ID, or video. This is an extra security measure to protect against fraud.

If you see a video verification isn't available message, click ID verification and follow the on-screen instructions. It can take up to 24 hours for YouTube to review and verify your account before you can use its advanced features. CleanShot 2025-02-04 at 16.43.17@2x.png Step #3: Enter Your RSS Feed URL
On the next screen, you’ll be prompted to add your RSS feed URL. If you're using Buzzsprout, you can find it under Directories > RSS Feed in your account. Paste the URL to YouTube and click Next.
#1.jpg Step #4: Verify Your Email Address
YouTube will send a verification email to the address that you added to your RSS feed. Once you get the email, enter the verification code and click Verify. CleanShot 2025-02-04 at 16.43.57@2x.png Step #5: Select Episodes
Now, you’ll be asked which episodes you'd like to upload. You can select:
  • All existing episodes
  • Episodes published after a specific date
  • Only future episodes
Indicate Paid Promotion
If your episodes include host-read paid promotions, select Most of the episodes contain paid promotions from the drop-down menu.

Publish Your Podcast

After submitting, YouTube will take a few days to process your show. You’ll receive an email once your podcast is ready to be published! YouTube will automatically list your videos as Private until you manually publish them. So, the last step includes updating those settings! 
  1. In your YouTube Studio account, go to Content > Podcasts. 
  2. Under Video Count, click Publish next to your RSS feed. This button will only show once your episodes are approved and ready.

Congratulations, your podcast is live on YouTube!
Now, any audio episodes that you add to Buzzsprout will be published on YouTube, too!
